Welcome to London Towers:
I’ve been in the UK before. When I was with Minnesota we did a tour in the UK in 2001. We played in Manchester. It’s beautiful here. London is huge, very busy even though I’m used to city life having lived in Minneapolis and Minnesota. Parking here is very tough. I’ve found myself taking the train and getting lost, I’m surviving so far.
Robbie is quoted as saying “I'm excited to get him on board because I must have asked him about 400 times to sign for us!”
Coach has been trying to get me for over a year now. I had a shot at my NBA dream when I played with Charlotte in the summer league and then I went to the CBA. I hoped I’d get a call up for the NBA but I ended up hurting my foot. So I decided to look for some international experience. I had opportunities to go elsewhere, to bigger countries making more money but Coach has been very persistent, he kept calling and asking me to come, so I decided to come here.
I’m really enjoying working with Coach Peers, he knows a lot about the game and I’m really excited to be here. The team get along great, we’re tight and enjoy being together. Chez and I spend a lot of time together. We have a great team, not just a good team and once we get used to playing together I honestly think we have a shot at the championship this year. We’re going to play our hearts out and if we play the way we’re capable of playing and everyone’s on-board we’ll make a splash this season. |

You transferred to Minnesota from Louisiana State?
I played at LSU, I’m from Louisiana so it was local. We had some violations going on and they put the team on probation, so I left there. I was recruited to go to Minnesota out of high school and had an even bigger investigation. It had TV coverage, on ABC’s 20/20. It was a big transition to Minnesota, to sit out a year, and be away from my family but I think it was a good decision. I had to grow up very fast though, at 19 I was being followed to class by TV cameras, people calling me ‘cheat’ and all the things that went on at the time. I’ve had a lot of downfalls but I’ve persevered through them all. The past 5 years have been tough but I just kept my faith in God and myself. |
Tonight was tough, a twisted ankle and two dislocations on the team:
We work so hard in practice that games sometimes come easier because of that. We actually battle against each other so hard I’ve been injured here more in a month and a half than I have in my whole career. My shoulder popped out once and I’ve hurt my wrist.
Chez’s shoulder popped out today, he’s a big part of our team so we’re just going to pray everyone gets better. You just have to deal with these things and keep playing. |
