Brixton Topcats vs London Towers       Final Score 76 - 87
National Cup 2nd Round.

With 1min 55 sec to go a huge windmill dunk from Tayo Ogedengbe, which came off a un-sportsman like foul by Brixtons Brendon Donlan, proved the turning point to this National cup tie. Towers down by three went on to win the game allowing Brixton only 1 point whilst scoring 14, amazingly hitting nine from the free throw line from 13 attempts, up until the final two minuets it seemed the team from Crystal Palace would lose the game due to a lack of accuracy from the charity stripe.

The game started slowly for the men in gold, Brixtons tough defence proving difficult to break down. The ¼ ended 19- 15 with only a buzzer beating three from Karilos “Special K” Stefanavicius helping to keep the scores close. The second ¼ saw much of the same, stand out performances at both ends of the floor from Armand Anebo (10 pts) and Avelino Antonio (4pts) saw Towers up at half time 33 – 37.

Any thoughts of an easy run in were quickly dispelled as Brixton took control. Led by Donlan who hit a 3 point play and two long threes plus a long two for eleven points in the ¼. Brixton Recreation Centre or “the Rough House” as it is commonly known lived up to its name. Both sets of fans made lots of noise as the game entered the final ¼. Brixton leading 60 – 54, committed too many fouls trying to keep Towers at bay. Towers couldn’t close the gap until the 1.55 mark, Donlans fifth foul, a defence close out from Towers and Special K’s 19 second half points make Towers the first team in to the 3rd round. The Towers coaching staff will surely  want to see an improvement on the 27 from 50 free throw effort.

Leading Scorers:
Towers: Stefanavicius 28, Anebo 18, Ogedengbe 12, Ian Berry 11
Brixton: Adegboye 18, Donlan 17, Miller 12, Gray 11

Cardiff Celts v Towers             Final Score 95 - 81

After a long journey to Wales we competed with a strong Cardiff team who had brought in new players from the higher divisions .Slowly the Cardiff team started to hit their shots and we were not putting enough pressure on the shot then a couple of 3 pointers pulled them away before half time.

In the 3rd quarter we rallied and started to get back into their lead but we could not maintain the pressure and it was still 10 points at the end of the 3rd.

Our guards did not get their shots away and turnovers made it difficult, also we struggled to Score at crucial times which would have put pressure on the Cardiff team. We play the Cardiff team on the 6th January 07 back at Palace. That is going to be a great game and could be a title clash.

Towers v Hackney    Final Score 86-61

1st game of the season and although we have had a good pre-season we still have a lot of work to do.

We have to work harder on the boards, we are athletic we must use this and play tough defence and not lose concentration. Times in the game we rushed our offence and made turnovers, we have to take care of the ball and control the tempo.

There is depth in the team this year and players are fighting for places the team spirit and effort is excellent but we must channel this in the right direction.

In the 3rd quarter we took their penetration away and got hands to their shots. NO 2nd shots were given to Hackney and we could get out on the break from good rebounding positions, we need to keep this up for longer in the game. Four players made double figures Karolis Stepanauvicus[28] ,Tayo Ogedegebe[20] and Seb Springall [13]three 3 pointers and Avilino Antonio [11]with nine players getting on the score sheet.
